My host mom explained that this architectural technique was used because the wind kept causing problems for the really large towers, and the spiral shape helps it be more aerodynamic.

I probably misunderstood this, but I think that might be the spear-head that pierced Christ... It was behind protective glass on display, so it seemed really important... I think it was called the "holy spear" or something

Half of this building was redone during WWII because a bomb was dropped on it. And the cathedral of Charlemagne which was like 15 yards away to the right was untouched... incredible...

This was inside the cathedral, the bones of Charlemagne are still resting in those golden caskets.
This made me think of the Da Vinci Code and all that free mason sort of stuff
This was on display in a museum, it contains the right arm bones of Charlemagne. You can see them a little better in the picture below.
